The Nossal Institute for Global Health is building the capacity of health workers and planners to respond to priority health needs. This is through strengthening the skills of practitioners and planners in development settings as well as Australian international health professionals. Drawing on expertise from within the institute and partner institutions in the Asia Pacific region, The Nossal Institute for Global Health delivers a growing program of short courses, undergraduate and postgraduate education and research in international health.
The institute's program in international health education covers training in areas such as child and adolescent health; safe motherhood; disability in developing countries; HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment; and harm reduction. Also available are health worker training courses, NGO training programs, research capacity development, study tours and internships. Selected short courses are accredited towards degree programs at the University of Melbourne.
