Hub Manager

The Australian International Health Institute (The University of Melbourne) Ltd, a company of the University of Melbourne, is an operating arm of the Nossal Institute for Global Health.

The Nossal Institute for Global Health, at the University of Melbourne, seeks an experienced development project manager, to take on a senior management role for the Knowledge Hub for Health Policy and Health Finance, as Hub Manager.

The Knowledge Hub is a priority program of the Institute, funded by AusAID, currently entering the third year of an initial four year funding period. The aim of the Hub is to build the evidence base and expertise needed to support better policy decisions to improve the performance of health systems in developing countries of the Asia-Pacific region.

The Hub Manager plays a key role in coordinating the operations of the Hub, ensuring that procedures to maintain quality are implemented, and managing the challenging interface between generating research evidence, and its uptake into policy and practice. While the applicant does not need to be a health systems expert, it is expected that they will bring expertise in relevant areas, such as knowledge management, research, or policy analysis, and contribute to these technical areas.

The position is offered initially as a 2 year full time contract, with the potential for extension, with salary appropriate to qualifications at the category 3 salary scale level $80,700.-$96,700.00)this is inclusive of 9% superannuation In addition the successful candidate will have access to Salary Packaging.

Lead Specialist

The Australian International Health Institute (The University of Melbourne) Ltd, a company of the University of Melbourne, is an operating arm of the Nossal Institute for Global Health.

The Nossal Institute for Global Health, at the University of Melbourne, seeks a health professional, social scientist or policy analyst with substantial experience of health systems in low income countries, to take a senior role in its Health Systems Strengthening Unit (HSSU).

The HSSU is one of the five priority units of the institute, with a particular focus on researching, analyzing and contributing to improvements in performance of health systems in low income countries. This includes convening the AusAID funded Health Policy and Health Finance Knowledge Hub.

The Lead Specialist, Health Systems and Policy, will participate in the management and leadership of the HSSU, provide technical advice on current work (both within the Hub and outside), undertake consultancies in areas of expertise, and build relationships with potential partners to grow the Nossal’s engagement in health systems work.

The position is offered initially as a 2 year full time contract, with the potential for extension, with salary appropriate to qualifications in the range $90K - $120K, plus salary sacrifice benefits. Part time applications may be considered.

Contracts Manager

The Australian International Health Institute (The University of Melbourne) Ltd, a company of the University of Melbourne, is an operating arm of the Nossal Institute for Global Health at the University of Melbourne. We are seeking a Contracts Manager to work in a commercial and culturally diverse environment. This Position works directly with and reports to the General Manager.

Position summary

A key aspect of this position will be the development of contracting strategies based on business needs and the management of a contracting portfolio covering the full contracting life cycle. You will need to be familiar with best practices and business systems in managing high value contracts associated with key service providers as well as high volume contracts in support of minor projects and consultancies.

Requirements:

  • A tertiary qualification preferably with a legal background
  • At least 5 years relevant experience
  • Good knowledge of insurance, contract law, trade practices, risk management and intellectual property
  • Superior negotiation & communication skills as well as the ability to build rapport with all internal stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment that encompasses NGO’s, government agencies, faith based organisations within a university culture.
