Evaluation of Immunisation Coordination Committee (ICC) in the GAVI eligible countries of WHO Southeast Asia Regional Office (SEARO) and providing guidance and support for the conduct of a Health System Support (HSS) workshop
Description: GAVI was formed in 2000 to increase access to vaccine products and immunisation services to the poorest countries in the world. There are 75 countries currently in the GAVI Alliance, of which 9 are based in the SEARO Region. It is a requirement for GAVI funding that countries have a functioning country level ICC. This ICC evaluation aimed to determine the utility and future perspectives on the role of ICCs in support of strengthening national authorities’ capacity to improve immunisation coverage and access to new vaccines and technologies in the SEARO Region. GAVI also organised an inter-country workshop to assist GAVI eligible member countries to develop/finalise project proposals on health systems strengthening for GAVI funding. Specific objectives of the workshop are as follows:
- to share country experiences on GAVI HSS proposal development activities
- to identify the specific technical assistance required by countries to develop/finalise GAVI -HSS proposals
- to provide technical advice to countries to fine-tune their draft GAVI-HSS proposals, and to
to develop country-specific action plans on developing/finalising GAVI-HSS proposals.
