Global Effectiveness Study: South Asia – the Jamkhed Health Promotion Experience: from local to global
Description: The aim of this project was to:
- Demonstrate the contributions of primary health care and community development to the promotion of the mental health of women in rural India.
- Promote an important paradigm in which practitioners in Australia (and other industrialised countries) learn from practitioners in rural India.
- Develop research capacity in health promotion at the Jamkhed Institute through increased collaboration with the institute.
- Identify research priorities in health promotion, in particular in the areas of mental health and sexual health and wellbeing for further study.
- Disseminate the findings of the project in Australia, India and globally through professional networks, teaching opportunities both at university level and symposia, and short courses convened in India and Australia.
- Increase collaboration and networking between AIHI, Jamkhed and other Australian and Indian public health institutions.
